Saint Thomas Health names Marvin 'Bud' Wood to top human resources post
NASHVILLE, TN --- May 7, 2013 – Saint Thomas Health officials have announced that Marvin ‘Bud’ Wood has assumed the role of chief human resources officer for the nine-hospital network.
As former Senior Director of Human Resources for Community Health Systems in Franklin, Tenn., Wood brings 25 years of human resources experience to his new role.
“We are thrilled to have someone of Bud’s caliber join our leadership team,” said Mike Schatzlein, president and CEO of Saint Thomas Health. “He joins us at an exciting time for our system as we focus on creating healthy communities not only at our hospitals, but across Middle Tennessee.”
In his former role, Wood provided human resources leadership for 29 hospitals with 22,000 employees. He has worked to develop and implement strategies that standardize human resources practices and enhance communications and delivery of services.
Wood received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Oklahoma. As well, he received his master’s degree in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma.
He is a former member of the Oklahoma Institute of Child Advocacy Board of Directors, Executive Board of the Oklahoma Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation and United Way of Central Oklahoma Allocation Subcommittee.
