(Don’t) Scratch that! Tips for keeping calm when dealing with chicken pox.

So you’ve got a case of the chicken pox. Cue scratching and itching for days. Chicken pox is really more of a nuisance type of a disease as opposed to being harmful, however, all of that itching and scratching can lead to scarring. Try these tips to avoid scarring and to keep those itches a little more manageable.

  1. Keep fingernails short.
  2. Wear loose fitting clothing to avoid irritating the skin.
  3. Bathe in an oatmeal or cornstarch bath.
  4. Avoid extensive exposure to heat and/or humidity.
  5. Use an over-the-counter antihistamine.
