October: SIDS Awareness Month

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is one of the leading causes of death in babies less than a year old. Fortunately, you can help prevent SIDS by helping your baby sleep safely.

  • Leave the stuffed animals outside of the crib and put baby to sleep alone.
  • Put baby to sleep on his or her back.
  • Regulate baby’s body temperature while sleeping.
  • Baby’s crib should have a firm mattress that fits tightly in the crib frame.
