Preparing an Emergency Kit

You just never know when a natural disaster or unforeseen circumstances will strike, so it’s always best to be prepared. Having a fully equipped emergency kit stored away is an excellent idea for those moments you hope will never happen. Here are a few suggestions on what to include in your emergency kit:

  • First-aid supplies
  • Flashlight (and extra batteries!)
  • Non-perishable food items (up to a two-week supply, and 2000 calories per person, per day)
  • Water (the American Red Cross recommends one gallon per person per day)
  • Blanket
  • Copies of personal documents
  • Toolkit
  • Solar-powered radio
