Founder and Sister of Susan G. Komen visits Saint Thomas Midtown
Nancy Brinker made a promise to her dying sister more than 30 years ago. The promise was to do everything in her power to end breast cancer. Brinker, who’s the younger sister of Susan G. Komen, started the non-profit in the early 1980’s and today it’s become the largest breast cancer organization in the country raising money and awareness for research, education, and programs.
Brinker stopped by Saint Thomas Midtown Tuesday morning for a tour of the “Mission in Motion” Mobile Mammography Coach which provides free screenings for underserved populations in 16 Middle Tennessee counties. The coach is supported through grants from Susan G. Komen. Brinker was joined by two breast cancer survivors who found out they had the disease after being tested inside the mammography coach.
