Middle Tennessee Medical Center names Dr. Corlew chief medical officer
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – April 4, 2013 – Middle Tennessee Medical Center (MTMC) has named Scott Corlew, M.D., M.P.H. as chief medical officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs.
As chief medical officer, Corlew will function as a liaison between medical staff and hospital administration with emphasis on improving the overall quality of care provided to patients.
“Dr. Corlew is an outstanding addition to our senior leadership team,” said Gordon Ferguson, president and CEO of MTMC. “He has already shone great commitment to this hospital as a past Chief of Surgery and he will make a great contribution in helping our community live healthier lives.”
A native of Murfreesboro, Corlew attended medical school at Emory University and completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Maryland. As well, he completed his residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Florida. He received his master’s degree in public health from Harvard University in 2007.
Following his residency training, Corlew practiced with the Murfreesboro Medical Clinic from 1991-2006. He served as Chief of Surgery for MTMC from 1997-1999.
For the past few years, Corlew has been the Chief Medical Officer for ReSurge International, previously Interplast, based in Mountain View, Calif.
