Join Middle Tennessee Medical Center for mother-daughter breast health event

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – April 29, 2013 -- Mothers and daughters often share a lot – their looks, family heirlooms or even clothing. What they can also share is an education about breast health.

One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, according to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Even though it is the most common cancer in women and a leading cause of death, early detection and treatment significantly improves a woman’s chance for a full recovery.

Join the Middle Tennessee Medical Center (MTMC) Center for Breast Health for their Mother & Daughter Celebration to learn more about breast health from the region’s leading experts while enjoying a complimentary brunch.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon, May 18 at the Center for Breast Health located in the Seton Building, 1840 Medical center Parkway, Suite 101 in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Featured physicians include:

  • Breast surgeon Dr. Mark Akins
  • Breast surgeon Dr. Laura Baskin
  • Radiologist Dr. Marynelle Klumpe
  • Plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Nicholas Tarola
  • Health nurse navigator Carol Williams

More than 40,000 women in the Rutherford County community choose the Center for Breast Health at MTMC for breast procedures each year. The center provides state-of-the-art digital mammography for screening and diagnostic needs, breast ultrasound as well as stereotactic biopsy capabilities. From education to prevention, the Center guides patients through the process, while offering services in a relaxing environment close to home.
